Whistling noise, sometimes high rpm, stutters under heavy ac

Postby jacobfancy » Thu Apr 18, 2013 2:01 pm

Hi all. i posted earlier about a potentially stick throttle. Anyway, Ive got a few more symptoms. I have a 91 se 4x4 with the vg30e engine. At first I noticed that when the car was warm and idling, it would kick up high sometimes (almost 1500). I cleaned the exterior of the throttle body. Then, I noticed that while the car was warm, it would "stutter" while I accelerated heavily (I would push it hard, and in between 3 and 4k it would start lag, drop the rpm for a second, only to come back up). i REPLACED the FUEL FILTER, thinking that it could be dirty gas, which did help it, and also I put fuel injector treatment in the gas. Today, Ive been looking at cleaning the iacv, but cant quite figure out where it is. I took of the air intake hoses, and DID notice that some of the hoses leading of this are frayed. While tinkering, I think I might have made the problem worse, or maybe I just now noticed something.. which is its whistling. I have a sneaky suspicion that the hoses off of the intake are the culprits... please help. Im thinking about all sorts of things now, including (as it smells like its running a LITTLE hot) replacing the thermostat, replacing or cleaning the iacv (WHERE IS IT???!!!) replacing vacuum hoses, and possibly chainging the timing belt if none of these work. PLEASE please please help!!!

Thanks
