Wiring Help!

Postby jjrivas » Mon May 19, 2014 11:31 am

I've just installed Hellas Black Magic. Right now i have them connected to my low beams, but when i turn on my high beams they go off. I'd like for them to stay on, but i don't know how. I did some research and some of you tapped into the parking lights to have your aux light come on with the parking lights and avoid the high beams issue. I tried that, but i can't get my hellas to come on. There are 3 wires in the parking light (white, red and black) which wire do i have to tap to get power running to my switch? Thanks!!

use a test light, and probe each wire to see which one is the parking light.

One wire is ground, the other is turn signal, and the third is parking light.. test each one with a test light. The one that has 12v on it with the parking lights on is the one you want..

are you using it to trigger a relay for the lights? I dont think the parking light circuit can handle a pair of driving lights running solely off of it.

Yes i have a relay installed connected to ground, the battery which runs to a switch i have in the cabin. I guess i will have to invest in the test light. Thank you for the help!

no problem, test lights are cheap and if you're doing wiring, are a really good thing to have.

Another place you could look is in the driver's kick panel, according to directechs, you can grab it there too, however, you should ALWAYS test the wire before you hook it up, just in case the documentation is wrong or you grab the wrong wire....

From Direct Techs:
Parking Lights (+) gray + driver kick, white 8 pin plug, pin 4
