Well i think i found out the problem. I finally got around to checking the cabin filters and boy were they dirty. They were covered in dirt and had leaves and some other crap on top if them. What a crappy design for the filters and location. I took them out and blew them off with an air compressor till i can get to nissan to get new ones. Im going off roading tonight with a buddy so id rather have them in till i get new ones. I went for a drive without them in and didnt hear any noises. Did about 10-15 miles of doing 75-80mph. Hopefully that was the culprit. Thanks everyone for the help. Ill report back if something changes. :D

Can someone point me to a quick how-to on the filters? I have no idea where to look. Thanks!

It's been about 150 miles since I did the cabin filters. Still no noises.

What did I tell you? Glad to hear it was an easy fix. I appreciate having filters, but talk about a piss-poor design. If we didn't have to squish/bend the things when installing, creating small gaps that make noise, it might not be too bad.

Lol yea absolutely horrible design. It took me 10 mins to get the second filter to slide in so it wasn't bunched up bending.

Ok so the sound is back. But it sounds like its coming from the engine bay now. Instead of the passenger side. It starts to happen as low as 70mph now. Today it was very windy as opposed to the past week where it hasn't been at all. Really starting to annoy me. Not even 2 months owning the truck and im having problems.

Damn! I ordered filters Monday night thinking a fix was on the horizon... Oh well, they've probably never been changed anyway... Let me know if you have any breakthroughs...

As of now it only happens when its really windy at around 70mph but now it sounds like its coming from the engine bay. Before i changed the cabin filters it was happening all the time at 75-80 and sounded like it was coming from the passenger side. any other helpful advice? i rechecked the engine bay for anything that was loose or seemed loose that would flap around. im clueless right now.

If changing the cabin filters cut down the noise from "all the time" to just when it is windy, you might want to pull out the cabin filters again and reseat them. The first time I changed mine, I had to pull them out & put them back in about 5 times before I got rid of a really annoying flapping noise. When I've changed them since then, I've always used a really long flathead screwdriver to get the stupid things seated all the way to the edges. Also, when you pull them out, shine a light in there & see if there is any debris along the edges. When I pulled out mine the first time, I had all sorts of crap (on them & in the filter housing) that came from somewhere off the car:

I was going to say the same thing actually- if the sound changed somehow from this, they are related. Either way, this thread was worthwhile. I haven't driven yet to see how the sound is affected, but I suspect after 120k miles, this was the first filter swap :)

Unfortunately I can confirm that its not gone for me either after changing out my cabin filters. If anything its louder. Ugh... if you have any breakthroughs I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

take your cabin filters completely out and drive around and see if you get the sound. I drove around for a day without any and got absolutely no noises. Put them in and got the noise back. Im gonna pull them again and make sure there seated correctly. They cant be crunched up at all. a little space will make it worse then your dirty ones.
